I will be in Stockholm mid May and trying to decide between visiting Siguna or Uppsala for a day trip. I know it could be possible to do both, but I would rather choose one. Any suggestions are appreciated :)

While Sigtuna certainly is nice, Uppsala has more to offer.
But it also depends a bit on what you're looking for and what you want to see and do.

Personally, I would choose Uppsala. Have you looked at Youtube videos of these 2 places? Sigtuna is a small, easily walkable old town on Lake Mälaren, but really just a few hours of wandering to see it all. Uppsala is a vibrant university town easily reachable by train from Stockholm with a cathedral & castle on the hill, GREAT fika (high tea), & a bus ride gets you out to 'Old Uppsala' (Gamla Uppsala) with Viking royal graves, a stone cathedral, excellent little museum & Odinsborg, a good cafe / restaurant built in 1899.
