Will be in Stockholm and Gothenburg in May. We will have a few days, possibly 6 or 7, available for a road trip before heading to Copenhagen by train. While this is a broad question, we are debating which direction to head in by car. We've thought about exploring the west coast, either north or south of Gothenburg. We would like to see the Malmo but think we could do that by train enroute to Copenhagen. We enjoy the countryside, good seafood and experiencing the culture and essence of a country. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you.
You will love medieval yet light-filled Visby which shouldn't be missed. Yes, you most definitively can see Malmö en route to Copenhagen, as the stretch of tracks between those two cities has been called "the most frequent international rail service on the planet". The journey takes 34 minutes. Malmö is one of the five most rewarding cities in the country.
Thank you for the response regarding Visby.
When in May?
I recommend Helsingborg with Kullaberg land's end and Helsingør (DK side) with Kronborg Slot on a slow way from Gothenburg and Copenhagen. The ferry ride is only 20 minutes.
Tip: Do not do cross-border rentals which are known to be expensive.
