Public Bike Rentals in Stockholm

In Stockholm, are there public bike rentals? These are shared bikes that can be used by checking them out on an app then returning them to another rack for a specified time period.

I have looked around on the internet to find public bike rentals and an app to download prior to arrival - but mostly I am finding companies that rent bikes for the day or week.

Does the city offer this kind of program? I thought I read on another forum that the city discontinued a contract that offered this service.

We love to rent bikes and I would like to be prepared before we arrive in the city from the US in early Sept 2024.

Thanks in advance.

Thank you both for suggestions.

Note I researched RIDEMOVI and downloaded the app. Based on reviews it looks like many had difficulty with a US phone number and the app wouldn't accept it. Also, many said the app didn't work well, overcharged, and it was hard to cancel subscription once they had signed up. I just wanted to note this for others looking to rent bikes in Stockholm. Always good to do your own research - but I'm just sharing what I learned. :D
I would think it may work well with European -based credit card, or someone who lives there.
We had this same issue in Berlin when trying to rent public bikes (not accepting US credit card).

I am still looking into BOLT - but it appears that they are primarily for e-scooters, but more research is needed on my end.

The good thing is that there are several rental bike companies that rent by the day - if BOLT doesn't work out, we will definitely look for the bike rental companies. I found this one: https://djurgardsboden.se/cykeluthyrning

Also a List by YELP:

It looks like I answered my own questions! But still welcome comments.
We leave this upcoming Tuesday 9/3/2024 - the trip is finally (almost) here!

You'll love Stockholm, bicycles or not. Be sure and use a ferry for at least one of your public transit rides - they give you views of the city that you can't get any other way.

I have no personal experience with Ride Movi, and they are pretty new in Stockholm. A previous company had many problems so the city decided to cancel their permit (maybe that's what you read) and I think that Ride Movi is meant as a temporary solution, but I'm not 100% sure.

I'm not sure Bolt has bikes in Stockholm, I've never seen them or heard about them, but I might be wrong. If you're interested in a regular bike rental, Gamla Stans cykel is not a bad place to visit. Just keep in mind they Yelp is more or less useless in Europe.

I will look at The bike rental in Gamla.
And thanks for tip on Yelp. I don’t usually refer to them but because it has a list of bike rentals it gave me a good overview.

I hope to take a ferry ride as well. Would love seeing the city from the water.

Gamla stan! The island with the palace and the old medieval parts is called Gamla stan (The Old Town). I don't know if you would shorten New York to "New" or San Fransisco to "San", but please don't shorten Gamla stan.
