We have 6 adults with one day in Stockholm before a tour begins. We would like to get to Vimmerby Sweden for a day trip. We'd like to hire a private driver. Does anyone know of a reputable company that could accommodate us?

Taxi Stockholm, Taxi Kurir and Sverigetaxi can all help you with that. Expect to pay around 15000-20000 kr (€1500-€2000) for that trip, and you will spend most of the day sitting in a car.
Or you can do what everyone else would do and just take the train. Faster, cheaper and a lot more comfortable.
