For Denmark: Sturdy water proof shoes and layers of insulation topped by a water proof jacket and hat/cap. Skip the umbrella as there will probably be wind.
Would anyone recommend purchasing LL bean boots?
Are the boots cute? I know that sounds silly but I am somewhat serious. An advice I give to people packing for a trip is if you won't wear it at home, you won't want to wear it on the trip. Buy the boots if you want them and will wear them at home (I am not sure where you are from, so you may be in a climate where boots are not worn much). As for me, I have a pair of Clarks waterproof wavewalkers. They are good walking shoes so I wore them a lot. I used them in Scandinavia last spring. We didn't get a lot of rain, but they worked great when we did. Boots can take up a lot of space. Also, ask yourself "If it never rains, will I still be wearing these boots to walk around all day". If not, look for a walking shoe that is water proof.
The shoes are cute and I would wear them at home. These would be new shoes too..
If you had time to break them in good then yes, I would buy them, but you don't. I have never traveled with shoes that were not well broken in. I make sure I can walk at least five miles in them without them rubbing blisters on my feet. If I were you I would take what I already own that are well broken in.
Layers will be the key and a good rain coat
