We are considering the overnight sailing between Helsinki and Stockholm. There seem to be two lines recommended, has anyone used this transit between the cities? If so would appreciate comment/opinion about either line. There seem to be some differences between Viking and Tallink Silja on the web but comparisons are not clear. Thanks in advance...

To be fair, the difference between Silja's and Viking's ships are not that big. Some prefer Silja, other prefer Viking.
Viking dock in central Stockholm, Silja a bit in the outskirts. Silja on the other hand dock a bit more central in Helsinki, although the difference is much larger in Stockholm.
The big difference is that Viking sold one of their ships recently and their departures are now less frequent.
