Hello, I'm wondering if anyone has feedback on the night train from Malmo to Stockholm? I'm actually looking to start in Copenhagen and transfer to the night train in Malmo. 2 adults and 2 kids, ages 15 and 12. I've been on night trains before so I am familiar with them. We would book a private couchette for the 4 of us. It looks like the arrival time is quite early in Stockholm, around 6:00am, but I've seen on a few different websites, including the SJ site, that it might be possible to remain on the train upon arrival for a bit. I'm debating doing this night train vs. either a day train or a flight from Billund to Stockholm (we're trying to figure out where to put Billund into our itinerary). Thanks for any input!
I've taken it a couple of times and it works well. As you mention it arrives very early in Stockholm but it sits at the platform for an hour or so to give people a bit of extra sleep.
Thanks for the feedback. That's nice that you don't have to rush off the train right away. That might be a good option for us.
It's not a bad option at all. You can usually board the train a bit earlier as well.
Ok, good to know! It's probably not the best night of sleep but it would give us more time in Stockholm!
A bit risky connection if you plan a long leg in Denmark first so from Billund I would fly, sometimes there's an evening flight that won't much "tourist time". From Copenhagen I would say the connection is ok, taxi is a last resort and the night train do a detour so it might be possible to catch it with a train to Hässleholm if you're delayed. They might wait for connecting passengers too but I'm not sure what their policy is.
I think we would fly for sure if we were coming from Billund, we would only take the night train if we were starting in Copenhagen!
A night train is a wonderful option. Well spent time.
I ran the idea past my kids and they were very enthusiastic about taking a night train with beds they could sleep in and agreed immediately! Looks like that's our plan! :) Thanks for the feedback everyone!
