My friend and I are making a quick (5 day) trip to Sweden in January to photograph the Aurora- hopefully. Need advice on -
1- Best way/most predictable with a tight schedule to get to Abisko from Stockholm
2- Where to stay in Abisko knowing we will be out late most nights.
3- Other things to do/where to eat in the area
4- What don’t we know that we need to know before going?
The quickest way to get there would be to fly from Stockholm To Kiruna. You could then book to take the bus to Abisko.

I haven’t been to Abisko so can’t help you with suggestions there.
- The easiest way is to take the direct overnight train from Stockholm to Abisko. You can fly to Kiruna, but you won't save much time by flying (considering that you'll sleep for most of the train trip).
- I recommend the Tourist station: https://www.swedishtouristassociation.com/facilities/stf-abisko-turiststation/
- The restaurant at the Tourist station is your best bet, it might the only restaurant (I'm not sure though). There is also a tiny WWII/Cold war museum in Abisko.
- Make sure you have some extra time in the trip back just in case. When travelling that far north in the winter there is always a risk of weather related delays.
