Hi, we are a couple planning to travel to Kiruna/ Abisko/ Norvik from Stockholm 21st - 25th October. While we have a few queries ( will post later) we urgently need information on Kiruna airport pick up / drop to and from Abisko ( Touristation
STF hotel) before booking our flight from stockholm to Kiruna, reaching Kiruna at 9.40 a.m on 21st and leaving from Kiruna at 2 p.m for Stockholm on 25th. We tried visitabisko and other sites but not getting specific information on bus availability.
Thanks
I'm assuming you mean Narvik (town in northern Norway) and not Norvik (a port southeast of Stockholm). The easiest way to get to Abisko is in my opinion the overnight train, it stops next to the Tourist station and there is no need for a bus journey in the end.
Visitabisko offers buses between Kiruna airport and Abisko so they are probably the easiest option, but there are also regular trains from Kiruna to Abisko, although they are not frequent.
Thanks Badjer. Sorry about the typo on Narvik.
We did explore the train option before but it seems the train at that time may not be very regular and often runs late / may involve a change of coach etc. We can still consider. Any specific input for this route during October?
The visitabisko site seems to have some issue. Just wanted to make sure that reasonably regular service from Kiruna airport to Abisko is available. With luggages and all, we would prefer a direct trip only. Other option is Uber. Is uber service reliable in Kiruna

October is still far away, but if you have any questions, contact Vy. www.vy.se Normally the train runs daily, leaves Stockholm every evening and arrive in Abisko the next day.

There isn't. You need to prebook with them, and I don't know if they offer their service all year. October is low season in Abisko. If their website is problematic, send them an email.

If you want a direct trip to Abisko, the train is the best option.

It's nonexistent. There is a taxi company in Kiruna but taking a taxi to Abisko will not be cheap.
Thanks again. Will check the train option then.
We shall have five days for the trip, three nights in Abisko and one night each in Stockholm iand Norvik ( train is clozed I think., will take the bus only) . How is Norvik? I believe it is a popular Northern lights spot. Or will it be to better to be back to Kiruna , spend a day and leave for Stockholm? Any other option?
NArvik, the name of the town in northern Norway is NArvik.
Narvik itself is not that interesting. I'm not sure it is a popular northern lights spot, Abisko is a lot better if you want to see the lights. I wouldn't recommend a night Narvik just to see the town, but you can use it to visit Lofoten. In which case it might be a better idea to spend the night in Lofoten.
