Hotels in Stockholm

We will be in Stockholm July 1-4, 2026. Do any of you have favorite hotels? It would be for my hubby and me.

Hi!

I enjoy the Freys Hotel in Stockholm (https://www.freyshotels.com/en/). It is quite literally across from the Arlanda Express from the airport. Also, it is a quick walk to the city metro giving easy access to all the things you'd wish to see and do! Enjoy your stay!

We stayed at the Radisson Blu in June. Nice rooms, great breakfast buffet and very helpful staff. It is a few feet from one of the exits of the large central train station to their front door.

We got real partial to Choice Home hotels while in that part of the world. Excellent deal with Choice program points (If you don't have any, join and purchase point sales seem to occur frequently). Plus, they have an evening meal that was more than expected . We did well visiting restraints we wanted to try for lunch and hotel for supper

For me the area near Central Station isn't particularly interesting. It is logistically convenient, so not a bad place to stay on a short visit. Folks who know Stockholm well (I do not, having just spent 2-1/2 weeks there during 2022 and 2023) have previously suggested other areas, including those somewhat east and north of the station (Ostermalm and Vasastan, respectively).

I liked staying in eastern Gamla Stan on my first trip--at a Best Western that is probably not as nice as most forum members would choose--but I like to walk a lot. Some streets on Gamla Stan are extremely touristy, but my area was not. However, getting off Gamla Stan by subway can be a bit of a pain, and Stockholm is so spread out that convenient subway access can be very useful.

I've also stayed in a rather obscure part of Sodermalm, which is definitely not a central location.

What a coincidence. I was just about to recommend that very hotel; Best Western Gamla Stan, with it's 17th century murals, views and spectacular breakfast, having stayed there 3 years ago. Or have a look at Victory Hotel or Lady Hamilton Hotel. All three have elevators/lifts if memory serves, which is unusual in heritage buildings in the old town. You have been given good advice by all the respondents and can just go with the feeling and choose what catches your eye or heart.

We loved the Nobis Hotel. Perfect location, amazing breakfast, large room with comfortable bed and towels. We also really liked the Home Hotel Wellington. Near a metro stop and the Saluhall. Our room was large, with French doors that opened to a nice, quiet street. Breakfast was nice and afternoon fika and free dinner are also great amenities.

if not too late, consider Best Western Hotel Bentleys. my party stayed 4 nights and enjoyed our stay.
its a bit of a walk uphill of the train station, but the walk is along the pedestrianized street

If you have an early flight back, or late arrival, I really enjoyed my stay at Nordic Light Hotel. As with another recommendation here, it is just one block from the Arlanda Express. I had both a late arrival and early departure so the hotel was perfect for my needs.
It may not be the most touristy area to stay in but I walked everywhere when I was there in October, the area felt safe, and it's really close to the station and train stops.
The hotel is very environmental friendly, very Scandinavian style, modern, spacious rooms, one of the most quiet rooms and comfortable beds I had during my Scandinavia tour. And my room was behind the elevator and facing the street which I was concerned at first. I didn't hear a thing! And the breakfast was out of this world. The staff was friendly and helpful. And I remember the price being much more reasonable than hotels in Gamla Stan. I walked to City Hall for my tour, and there is a huge department store not that far with a fantastic restaurant at the top that a friend recommended (Basta restaurant).
I would definitely stay there again if I return to Stockholm.

One thing I did notice with my trip to Scandinavia (Norway, Sweden and Denmark) is that ALL hotels I stayed at had the bathroom shower not completely enclosed. I guess that's a nordic style? So water from shower tend to spill toward the sink area. At Nordic LIght, the shower area was a bit more spacious so it didn't spill as much as other hotels I stayed at.

Two years ago we stayed at Hotel Frantz. It is not in Galma Stan, but in Slussen, a 15+ min walk depending where in Galma Stan you are going. If you prefer, the metro is a 2 min walk from the hotel front door and will get you to Galma Stan faster (we prefer walking). We loved the area and were able to have traditional Swedish, Italian and tapas meals all within a 10 minute walk with reasonable (for Sweden) prices. The staff were all friendly and welcoming and they had one of the best breakfast spreads we've ever had. The only down side if you have mobility issues or are a larger person, the bathroom/shower was very small. The shower had a bi-fold door to give you an idea of the shower size.

I see it is still getting good reviews on Booking. We would stay there again in a heartbeat.
