Hotel w/good AC - Stockholm

Have you tried checking booking.com and filtering on air conditioning?

I just tried for random dates next June. When I filtered on ”hotel” and ”air conditioning”, 21 hotels showed up with availability. I’d start there and then if you see a hotel that looks promising, read the reviews.

While there are occasional heatwaves, it is more likely that the group will be putting in days in 70 degree weather. AC is rare in Stockholm, so your hotel choices will be limited.

The Stockholm Sheraton is airconditioned and about a five minute walk to the train station.

I've stayed a couple of times.

Radisson Blu Waterfront is immediately adjacent to Central Station. We stayed there and appreciated the convenience. Its a Radisson, so not independent local charm. But if AC is important to you ....

I had a fantastic stay at Nordic Light Hotel - quick walk to Central Train Station and really close to Arlanda Express stop.
Hotel is fantastic, breakfast one of the best. I visited in early September and didn't need AC but it is a very modern hotel and temperature was cool/pleasant. Please contact hotel directly to confirm if they have AC.

@FrankII I've contacted the Sheraton and they tell me "Our rooms don’t have air condition, but all rooms have ventilation that can be regulated in the room". But you said you've stayed there before and they DO have AC? Seeing mixed reviews online so it's becoming unclear to me.

@darrenblois I was looking at Radisson Blu Waterfront due to convenient location, but it says, "AC is regulated by weather conditions & lake water"; more like a "ventilation cooling system" rather than true AC & it receives mixed reviews online. Was your experience that it was more like true AC that we're used in the US? I know that's not always common in Europe but I'm just trying to please the group.

You mention summer heat in your opening post, but in June it usually doesn’t get any warmer than 20 degrees Celsius in Stockholm. And In the nights it cools off to around 13-15 degrees Celsius.
I think the reason you’re not finding any hotels with A/C is that there really is no need for such a thing. You’re much more likely to need sweaters and jackets than you need A/C.

Agree with the last post. You would only need AC in Stockholm a couple of days a year. The Radisson Blu was very comfortable.

I was looking for the same thing and the American chain hotels are the ones that have a/c. I booked the Sheraton but was also considering the Hilton. Otherwise a/c seems scarce. Will be in stockholm next week! I can follow up and let you know.

The Courtyard by Marriott, Kungsholmen has AC, but it's about a half-hour walk to Central Station. I've stayed here several times and it's a pleasant walk along the lake to Gamla Stan.

I stay 1-2x a year at the Courtyard Kungsholmen mentioned. It is indeed a nice walk along the water to the City Hall and on into downtown, but you can also take the subway to/from the central station (5-10 min walk depending on which station, then 10-12 min direct ride). Airport bus also stops nearby at Fridhemsplan. Easy connections all over Stockholm, large “American sized” rooms, good breakfast and a decent restaurant/bar if you need it. It is more of a residential/commercial neighborhood than tourist central, so if you don’t have a bus to shuttle you around, your group would need to be comfortable with walking/public transport or use Bolt/taxis.

Just got back from Stockholm and stayed at the sheraton and it was very comfortable in some warm weather. We had our own thermostat which we could adjust and i'm not sure why the hotel said they didn't have it. I will say that it was not as powerful as American a/c, but we slept very comfortably - and I hate to sleep hot. ( It's not that hot in Stockholm, but on sunny days in a small hotel room without a/c, it will still be hard to get cool air into the room without a fan).

Temp in the room was about 20.5c on the thermostat. Sheraton was also in a great location.
