Risk Steves doesn't cover Malmo in his Scandinavian guide, so I'm reaching out to his peeps. I'll be in Malmo for 4-5 nights and would like to find a quality hotel of the type RS likes to recommend. My employer is ok with rates up to about $220/185 euro/1,800 kroner per night. Suggestions?

That is a fairly healthy budget for Malmo, although depends on the exact dates.
If you are looking for something with a bit of character, check out MJ's Hotel (formerly Master Johan's), Hotel Duxiana, or Mayfair Hotel Tunneln. These are probably more 'boutiquey' than the normal RS place, but since you have the budget, why not?
The Hotel Noble House is decent too, in a good location.
