Helsingborg?

Hi all:

We will be visiting Copenhagen in July and looking for a day trip... thinking of going to Helsingor and then maybe across to Helsingborg? The teen boys we are traveling with will probably like riding the ferry - what to do in Helsingborg? Seems to be a little pedestrian area - maybe just walk around and lunch? Ideas?

Thanks!
Kim

I have never done any sightseeing in Helsingborg, it has always just been place you pass trough on your way further into Sweden. However the ferry ride is nice, with great views of Kronborg Castle in Helsingør. The two towns used to be twin cities back when southern Sweden was Danish and Helsingborg had a fortress just as formidable as Kronborg in Helsingør. However all that is left of this fortress is the central tower, Kärnan https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K%C3%A4rnan, which is still an impressive sight.

We took the ferry over while day-tripping Helsingor. Walking around was nice, we walked up to the park at Karnan. Regrets? We did npt have much time because of the amount of time we spent in Helsingor, which was delightful after we did the castle, nor had we alerted the bank so we could not get a small amount of Swedish money nor use our credit card (pre-chip, trsavel notification needed) Incidentally, there is a ferry discount on the Copenhagen card, which we had but failed to notice (the card covered the transit to and from Copenhagen to Helsingor)
