Is it worth it to visit Gotland for two days late August after medieval week. Concept is pick up ferry in oskarsham. Two nights in Visby. And then ferry to Stockholm afternoon next day.

It depends a bit on what you plans are for this trip, what you are looking to get out of it and what you want to see an do. But in general, a visit to Gotland is very much worth it.
Yes it is definitely worth it, and is a fabulous way of skipping some of the more boring railway stretches south of the capital. Consider a short tip further afield, to the Gotland hinterland, to really soak up the atmosphere away from the crowds. And the sea is as beautiful and inviting as it will ever be.
The bread and the pastries are the best and most varied in the world, and you should go to great lengths to sample all the varieties. Purchase kavring, rågkaka and tunnbröd (bread) at any good bakery (or even at a supermarket) and get to know a few of the hidden wonders of the northern cuisine. Have fika (pastries) including cinnamon buns, cardamom buns, sticky chocolate cake, 3 varieties of sponge cake, and a minimum of 5 kinds of biscuit at a confectionery; Vetekatten, Rosendals Trädgårdar and Grillska Huset in the capital, Taxinge Slottscafé (with a giant-size pastry buffet) in Södermanland, Café Gula Huset, Leva Kungslador and Själsö Bageri in Visby. Pastries and bread are one of the few things that are a cultural constant, and the bread you choose would easily have been recognized by people, in one region or another, who lived 100 years ago. SPECIAL RECOMMENDATION: The singular Skansen heritage bakery!
