Investigating best-priced flight options from US to Stockholm on Sept 13th (one-way). I would greatly appreciate any recommendations on what US departure cities (ideally Midwest, or East Coast) have best flight prices to Stockholm. Since we are about 4 hours away from the closest larger airport (Detroit), perhaps it would make scene to catch a domestic flight to a another US airport offering cheaper flights to Sweden? What airline would you recommend we look into?

SAS has direct flights from Chicago to Stockholm. Their prices are usually pretty good, but you need to buy a round trip ticket and skip the return. Otherwise Icelandair has one way flights with a connection in Reykjavik for $732. Or Norwegian with a connection in Barcelona for $351.

SAS also code shares with some US airlines so you might be able to book a trip from your home airport with SAS. In the summer United also flies from Newark to Stockholm. But I would choose SAS over United any time.
