Eurail Scandinavia Pass Gone?

I cannot find any information on the Eurail site about the Scandinavia Pass; the only passes listed are the Global and the one country passes. Yet other sites, including Rick Steves’ site, offer them for sale. I’m concerned about buying one through the Rick Steves site since it isn’t mentioned anywhere on the Eurail site. Does anyone know why? Has it been discontinued?

Thank you!
Laurie

Are you sure that a Eurail pass makes sense for your trip? Is it cost effective?

Thank you, Badger! That saves us $138 USD over the cost of the 7 day Global Pass. I'm so grateful!

Yes, the pass makes a lot of sense for us. We'd be spending $900 USD on trains covered by the pass. This is over 7 days: one of those days is $15. So we can do the 6 days in 1 month Scandinavia Pass for $600 USD and save almost $300! Totally worth it.

This is the link to the Scandinavia Pass I found on Rick Steves's website: https://ricksteves.raileurope.com/en/destinations/passes/scandinavia-pass-eurail-interrail If you fill out the search form, it takes you to a page where you can buy the pass.

I'm not up to date with the current exchange rate, but 900 USD is a lot of money for 7 days of train travel. How much are you planning to travel and how did you come up with that number?

That seems high to me, too, and I spent about two months in Norway and Sweden last year.

We are a family of four, and will be taking trains from Copenhagen to Stockholm, and also in several other locations around Denmark, Sweden, and Norway. I’d prefer not to share our exact itinerary here. The Norway in a Nutshell trains cost approximately $400 USD, so that takes up a lot of the cost. Buying that tour through the tour company would cost us more than $800 USD, so we decided to purchase the tour piece by piece. Using the rail pass will reduce the cost even more.

I found the costs of trains by using the website Rick Steves recommends: Bahn.com. I also used Vy.no.

A better idea would be to use the websites of the companies that actually operates the trains. And remember that in many cases the prices vary so you can get cheap tickets if buying in advance.

Two six day passes will cost you a bit over €90 per day, plus the cost of seat reservations. Single tickets from Copenhagen to Stockholm bought in advance will be cheaper than that. Also remember that the passes are not valid on Flåmsbana, although you get a discount on the tickets.
