Day trip to Stockholm Archipelago

I'll be traveling to Stockholm for a few days this August and was planning on doing a day trip in the Archipelago. Ideally I would like to try to see both Sandhamn and Grinda. Is this a good idea or is trying to pack two islands into one day too much?

Additionally, I was having some trouble figuring out ferry tickets if doing both Sandhamn and Grinda. Can I book a round trip Stockholm to Sandhamn and be able to get off at Grinda? Or do I have to book some combination of tickets? Any experience/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

We’ll be doing this in August and have the same question. I’ll be interested in the replies.

It depends on what you are looking for. I think the islands are a perfect "vacation from your vacation" a place to rest and recharge. If that is what you're looking for I would pick one island and allow enough time to really slow down and enjoy it. Time to take meandering hikes, enjoy a drink with a view. We were at Grinda two weeks ago and found some magical spots to pick wild blueberries and scramble on the rocks along the shore and just watch the boats go by.

I am sure you could "do" two islands in a day, but I would not choose to.

Same for me as Sarah — we just did this yesterday. We picked just Sandhamn — that way we only had to get on and off once, and enjoyed both the time on the ferry and the time on the island.

I don’t know about the tickets if you are going to one and then on to another.
