Christmas markets in Stockholm in December

I'm interested in any info about the Christmas markets in Stockholm in December. Timing and locations

You will need to check up-to-date info when it becomes available. These are the two that I have visited in the past:

1) Skansen - on weekends the 4 weeks before Christmas. Dates and times are here:
https://www.skansen.se/en/see-and-do/holidays-and-traditions/christmas-market/
They also have other activities during the Christmas season (e.g., folk dancing, singing) so check Skansen’s calendar once it becomes available. You need to buy a ticket for Skansen, the open air folk museum.

2) Gamla Stan on Stortorget (Stortorgets Julmarknad) - I could only find the info in Swedish from last year
https://julmarknaderna.se/julmarknad-stortorgets/

It says that the organizer hasn’t released the dates for 2026. Last year it was Sunday to Thursday from 11am to 6pm and Friday to Saturday from 11 am to 7pm. Last year’s dates were Nov 22 through Dec 23.

There is also a weekend market in Upsalla that was interesting, with musical events in the nearby cathedral (I didn’t look up the website.) I was there the first week of December last year and went to the two Laura mentioned.

I’ll be honest, Stockholm was fun, has lots to do, and had beautiful Christmas lights; but I didn’t think the Christmas markets were a big draw. The one at Gamla Stan was fairly small - but all the surrounding stores had lots of Christmas shopping items. It was a great week, but the Christmas markets were a pretty small part of it.

I’d agree with TexasTravelMom (although I have not been to any of the markets recently). I always enjoyed the festivities at Skansen at Christmas but the market itself is not that interesting.

I agree, might be my favorite Christmas activity in Stockholm. When you enter Skansen, there's a wonderful gift shop to your left before the escalator up to the top of the hill. I think it's the best place to find traditional items, I bought a wonderful wooden painted advent candelabra here. And there's a small building with a cafe next to it, they have a wonderful wood burning stove & excellent soup. DRESS WARMLY!! It was frigid on that hill during Christmas.

We also enjoyed the elaborate Christmas table setting display inside Hallwylska Museum in central Stockholm, not far from the Central Station. I've been to this museum a few times, guided tour & on my own - it's fascinating to see how people lived at the turn of the 20th century. The audio guide was really worth it. https://hallwylskamuseet.se/en/
