Central Stockholm to Arlanda for early morning flight

My adult daughter and I need to get from Sodermalm to Arlanda airport for a 7:35 a.m. flight. Do we need to be at the airport a full 2 hours early?

Other than a taxi (approximately $75), it looks like the most direct and quickest way is for us to walk to a bus stop and take the bus to the central train station and then take the Arlanda Express. Is it safe for two petite women with no weapons and no martial arts skills to walk around and take public transit that early in the morning? I would not do that in my city. Thanks for any thoughts!

I have been to Stockholm twice and always feel safe. You should be fine.

Have you thought about staying at the Airport the night before so you don't have to get up so early? There are several hotels right in the airport, in Sky City. It is very convenient and they are reasonably priced.

Yes, it's perfectly safe and no reason to worry. You don't mention where you are staying but Södermalm is a large island and there are other options as well. Such as the commuter train direct from Stockholms södra to Arlanda. And there are direct buses to Arlanda from Hornstull.

How much time you need at the airport depends on many factors, such as your destination.

Sodermalm is ridiculously safe. Especially catching the bus. We (disabled 60F and partly blind 74M) felt very safe in Sodermalm.

Thank you, everyone, for your reassurances. I'll look into whether we can shorten our AirBnB apartment reservation and stay at the airport for the convenience, but it's great to know that it's safe. I'll also look into the other transportation options. I appreciate the advice!

Regarding how early to get to the airport, we are flying to Alesund, Norway. Should we get to the airport a full 2 hours early?

If you have checked bags that would be a good idea.

How much less than 2 hrs are you thinking?

Thanks, Joe32F. We'll just get there 2 hours before the flight, since we're not sure if we'll have to check our bags or not.

For flights within Europe, Arlanda recommends that you arrive 2-2.5 hours before departure.

Thanks, Badger, that's very helpful information.

Although at that time I'd suggest 2 rather than 2.5 hours, and you'll probably be fine even with a bit less time. While the airport never closes, it's usually not too busy at 6 o'clock.

Thanks! We decided to spend our last night right at the airport for the convenience, rather than having to get up so early and make our way there.
