There will be 3 of us traveling from Stockholm to Karlstad in late June. It appears that the train track maintenance/upgrades are going to severely limit the availability of trains. I was wondering if anybody had used a car service in Sweden and had a good experience. If so - could you share the name of the company you used?

Dave, what date are you going? Have you tried checking Stockholm Södra to Karlstad? They are doing construction on the tracks between Stockholm Södra and Stockholms Central this summer. I just checked a random date at the end of June and I see trains every couple hours.

Thanks for the help. We're traveling on June 26th. What website are you using to find the trains? Apparently I'm not using the right one.
I am using sj.se. Make sure that you choose Stockholm Södra as your starting point. If you choose Stockholm Central, you will get a message saying that there are no SJ trains between Central and Södra.

By the way, you will notice that all of the high-speed trains show ”not available”. This could just mean that they haven’t finalized the schedule. See this FAQ
