Arlanda Express ticket cost question

Hello,
I will be needing the Arlanda Express only one way for one person. I have read that it is less expensive to purchase in advance and online/phone app. However, it does not appear to be any less unless I have a group or round trip.

I was hoping someone could confirm that price at the Arlanda kiosk is 320 SEK, the same price that appears if I were to book online or app.

Second question that same person may be able to answer, I will be flying into Stockholm from Oslo, will there be a lengthy line or customs process? Just trying to create a reasonable estimate of time that it will take to get to hotel.

Thanking you in advance for your time!

I think they have a fixed price if I'm not mistaken, but there is no harm in buying the tickets in advance. One less thing to think about when you arrive.

Customs, yes. Immigration, no. Although unless you're travelling soon I'd suggest you skip the plane and buy a train ticket instead.

The customs process isn't very lengthy if you aren't picked for a spot check or have something to declare. No lines at all, just the wait for checked luggage if you have any.

I'm also pretty sure it's 320 SEK at Arlanda.

I was curious about the difference in time for the train versus flying. Looks like the express train from Oslo to Stockholm is around 4.5 hours, (but some trains take over 7 hours) versus flying 1 hour. But that excludes cost of getting to the airport & being there 1.5 hours early, and when you land you're still 30 min outside Stockholm & would have to walk to the Arlanda Express, wait & take the train into Stockholm Central Station. So if you haven't bought your plane ticket yet & like train travel, you probably save very little time if any by flying, even if the flight is on time.

There are some engineering works on the tracks this summer so the Stockholm-Oslo trains are rerouted and take a bit longer. But normally they are faster.

There is really not a big time advantage in flying as mentioned. And the train is a lot cheaper. Buy the ticket in advance and you can get a train ticket between Oslo and Stockholm for less than the price of the Arlanda Express.

I am actually flying from Bergen to Stockholm with Oslo stopover and flight was about $60. When I looked into the train availability and times, it just didn't coordinate with my schedule even though taking a train was my original plan. Not looking forward to the flight but it gets me into Stockholm when I want. Perhaps if I had realized that Arlanda was half that amount I might have worked things out differently, but hey, next time!

You do know that there are direct flighs between Bergen and Stockholm as well?

@Badger - There were three nonstop flights on that date, two were too late in evening and the one flight arriving early was 2.5 times as much money. The fastest train route was 14 hours, including the night train which was very inexpensive, until I looked at the reclining seat option which brought it to same price as the quick flight, plus the inconvenience of extra time. Irks me a bit to take this flight but not enough to rearrange the rest of the trip or attempt to sleep on a standard train seat to save 300-600 NOK/$30-60. I'm happy with my compromise as I get to see a bit more of both Bergen and Stockholm!
