Arlanda Airport to Hotel by train or by Bolt

I only have experience with Arlanda Express which was super fast and convenient. But my hotel was walking distance from the Arlanda stop, so I didn't need to take a Bolt/Taxi from there. But if you add the Bolt on top of the AE ticket, you are about same price as getting it directly from airport.

Do you have large suitcase or mobility issues?

I've taken the Arlanda Express a few times. From the train station my hotel was only a few minutes walk.

The train is very easy and convenient.
The problem with Bolt is you don't know how much it is going to be until you order it.

I love the Arlanda Express. It was very easy to find at the airport. It was easy to board. I was able to download the ticket while we were walking from the gate to where the Arlanda Express is and it got us to our hotel or to Stockholm Central very quickly. From there, we took tram 7 to our hotel on the Djurgarden Island.

As mentioned above, I would just get Bolt once you're at the train station in the city center. I definitely wouldn't pay for Bolt the entire way. For one thing, it will be faster with the Arlanda Express. If you want to make it even cheaper, you could get Bus 69 at the train station, and that will get you to about 9 or 10 minutes from your hotel. Then you could just walk that remaining nine minutes. If you don't want to do that, then I would get Bolt at the train station.

Edit: Also, I don't know how old you are, but if you're 65 or older, the Arlanda Express price drops down to 210 SEK for each senior.

I stayed at same hotel in May and took Arlanda express and walked easily from central station since I wasn’t yet familiar with the SL metro. Switching to metro from central station where Arlanda express ends amd transitioning to metro getting off right near hotel (one stop I think) would be very easy too. The walk was 15-20 minutes flat terrain for me and I was able to get oriented to neighborhood in process.

We landed at Stockholm Arlanda Airport on August 25th and took the Arlanda Express train (see separate review) to Stockholm Central Station, where we transferred to the city’s T-Bana (subway system) and rode Line 13 just one stop to the Östermalmstorg station, where we had a short and easy walk to the hotel. Helpful hint: when you exit the T-bana at Östermalmstorg, take the exit marked “Sibyllegatan,” which is the street closest to the hotel. If you take other exits, you might end up with quite a long walk around several city blocks.

Take Arlanda Express (fast but expensive) or airport coach (slower but cheaper) to the central station. Take the metro to Östermalmstorg and walk (200 m) to the hotel. You can also take a taxi from the station to the hotel, but don't faff around with apps, unless you're arriving in the middle of the night there will be taxis waiting at the taxi lines, there is one next to Arlanda Express' tracks and one outside the main entrance. Only reputable taxi companies are allowed in the taxi lines, but do not take a taxi outside the taxi lines!
