I haven’t been to Sandhamn, but if you go there you need to plan for a full day visit. as it is around 2.5 hours each way. I’ve been told it is one of the nicer islands. It is big with sailors and you might want to check on sailing races during your visit which could mean crowds.
Grinda is closer in; it is pretty rustic so this would be an island to choose if you just wanted to go to the beach or enjoy nature.
Vaxholm is very close in and is more of a small town. There are restaurants and a fortress.
It has been 20 years since I visited either Grinda or Waxholm so I can’t provide much detail. I’d just read up on the islands and choose the one that most appeals to you.
