I have not had success with VRBO, AirBnB, or the other go-to online vacation rental sites.
I am looking for an apartment in the heart of Stockholm (my son is dreaming of staying in Gamla Stan) for a family of 6 (we will need 3 bedrooms; no pullout sofas or futons). We are traveling in late August. Can anyone recommend a local Swedish company that rents out apartments/flats by the week? Thank you!
There are a number of those companies. The magic word to enter in your favorite search engine is Lägenhetshotell. You can find several in Stockholm, but what is your budget? A 3 bedroom apartment in Gamla stan can be a bit on the expensive side.
Hi Badger!
Thanks for your reply, and thank you for the tip on “ Lägenhetshotell”. I did a very brief search and a few options popped up, but I haven’t yet seen anything big enough to accommodate all 6 of us. We are flexible with our budget. We are thinking $500-$600 US a night, but depending on the property we could go higher.
I took a look at booking.com and didn't see anything there that didn't come equipped with sofa-beds, which I am guessing are of the pull-out type. How about two apartments in the same building? That way you'd be assured of two bathrooms. (I don't know how old you children are.)
As always, make your budget in local currency. I have no idea how much a dollar is worth at the moment so can't help you with that.
3 bedrooms and six beds is a bit on the larger side so your options will be limited. But, far from non-existant. Here is one at Slussen, close to Gamla stan: https://www.secondhomeapartments.se/lagenhet/suite-guldgrand/
Sorry for the confusion with the currency. Five hundred US dollars is about 4300 krona. It’s surprising to me that there is not much availability for 3 bedroom apartments, as this is a popular configuration for most families! Thank you for the link to the location in Gamla Stan. I’m hoping it’s easy to ensure the two apartments are next to each other in the building, since most hotels usually fail at this!
