4 Days itinerary for Oslo and Stockholm

From 3 September to 7 September i will be visiting these two cities. I will be landing and departing to and from Stockholm (Arlanda) and i will use bus to travel between two cities (takes about 8 hours each) with the limited options for bus hours i am looking at two options. And again due to the bus hours it is not very wise to explain my situation as 2 day each instead i look at it as the amount of hours i have to explore the cities in total which comes to about 36-40 hours. (excluding sleep and all sorts of travels). Option one spends 26 hours in stockholm and 12 hours in oslo while option two spends 20 hours in stockholm and 20 hours in oslo. Detailed plan can be seen from the images i created (Green:Stockholm, Purple:Oslo, Blue:Transportation)

I am a student on a limited budget and in my previous visits to European cities i tend to skip the museums, looking at the prices of the museums in both cities i will likely do the same here, although i might consider a daily pass in oslo (with student discount it is not that expensive and it covers a lot of places) and i wouldn't want to skip a museum that is too nice/important just because its price, so looking forward to hear your thoughts about that as well. My liking when it comes to European cities is to try to live like locals and experience the culture, for example i would prefer walking and using public transportation instead of things like hop on hop off busses. Considering these which option do you think is more suitable for me?

As a detail-oriented hyper-planner, I love your color coded planner by hour. :) Where will you be arriving from? I ask because if there is jet lag, I would suggest going directly to Oslo on arrival, maybe even flying since you are already at the airport. This is a very fast moving trip, as you are aware. If you insist on doing both cities in such as short amount of time, I like the first one better because it prioritizes Stockholm. Norway has so much to offer beyond Oslo that it merits more time later on another trip. Would you consider Stockholm only, with maybe a day trip somewhere in Sweden?

Hey thanks for the reply. I will be coming from Istanbul so not expecting a jet lag. But looking at flight prices now i see that there is not a notable amount of difference between bus ticket considering the time savings. But again for the cheapest flight ticket i have to wait at the airport for 3 hours (even if i am willing to pay the extra for taking off a little bit earlier i dont think it would be worth it since with a delay in my first flight- that i purchased already- i would be missing the connection). I don't insist on doing both cities but i have friends to stay in both city centers so i thought i might as well use the free accomodation. And for your last question like i said i don't have to go to Oslo and actually i would really like to go on a trip to neighbouring cities or villages to do some hiking maybe, but main concern in this case would be the budget as i don't have a car and also having too much free time in Stockholm, i say this because that's happened to me in Prague where i dedicated 3 days and without getting in to museums we had a lot of free time enough to get bored even.
So if i opt for both cities i will use the plane and i am open for your recommendations for only Sweden plan
