Zaragoza, Spain

In September, we will be traveling from Barcelona to Pamplona and San Sebastian. Rick doesn't mention Zaragoza in his books, is this a city to skip?

NO! RS omits alot of worthwhile places. We spent 2 nights there last Oct on our way to San Sebastian & enjoyed ourselves. There is a massive Basilica in their main square, Plaza Del Pilar with impressive views across the river. We missed Aljaferia Moorish palace because they closed for lunch. If you do go, check out the croquettes at Casta Dona & the wonderful Bal d'Onsera for their tasting menu, our best meal hands down.

Since direct Barcelona-Pamplona trains only take four hours, it's easy to zip right by Zaragoza. If you have time for the Zaragoza stop without detracting from your next destinations, then check out info from Michelin, which gives the city 2 stars on a scale of 0-3.
