Would you recommend hotel Gothic quarters in Barcelona

We spent a week in Barcelona in early October and stayed in both Gracia (Hotel Casa Fuster) and the gothic quarter (H10 Madison). Each had pros and cons. Gracia we had authentic dining experiences on small squares. Gothic quarter we were close to main tourist areas but ended up eating at the hotel (rooftop terrace) as the nearby restaurants were expensive.

We did find one great place to eat sort of in between which is the restaurant/cafeteria on level 9 of the El Cortez Ingles department store overlooking Placa Catalunya. Absolutely fantastic view and inexpensive - had very nice paella there.
