Wondering if I got scammed on tickets to Alhambra

Back in February, I somehow got off the Tripadvisor site for vendors and ended up on site promoting "Alhambra By Yourself: Ticket with Physical Guide". Although I paid them (with understanding that tickets were non-refundable), they have never sent tickets. After my purchase, they sent pages of instructions, told us to pick up audio guide and tickets at "My Top Tour Tickets Office" at Cuesta de Gomerez n*41. I can't find this on maps, but it could be my error.
I did contact them and question the lack of tickets as well as questionable address, but they declined to help.

I thought I read a review from a disgruntled Rick Steves believer who reported that he had bought tickets from same company, and that they contacted him about a week prior to his arrival, that they no longer had tickets for him , but also no refund given.
Made me nervous so I went ahead and booked us tickets with a vendor recommended by Tripadvisor.
I still have time (a few days) to have my bank pull back their fee if this company is a scam. Please advise.

I know this is going to sound rude, but why don’t you just buy them directly from the site. You keep putting these middleman in the process and the fact that they’re highly recommended on Tripadvisor doesn’t really mean much.

I can see the website you must have bought this from. (Reviews are bad, as doesn't include timed entry tickets, or are 3 or 4 times the legitimate cost). It states on the main page not to follow Google maps to that address and number...so go back to the website for their directions.
With all the emails they sent you, did they tell you the entry time to the Nasrid Palace visit? If not, and you are anticipating entering the palace, then you have a problem. It seems that if you follow their instructions you will get an audio tour and stuff, but perhaps not what you thought you were buying.
But tell me if I understand this correctly...after one bad experience buying tickets from a TripAdvisor recommended agent, you went ahead and bought tickets again from another TripAdvisor 3rd party agent?!?
I know the official site name isn't intuitive and not easy to find. There are so many 3rd parties with names that sound like they should be legit, but aren't.
However, since you received the correct website up thread, seen if you can buy tickets for your dates and then cancel the second purchase.
Good luck.

If you look for My Top Tour on Google maps, it shows up as being at: Cta. de Gomérez, 41, Centro, Centro, 18009 Granada, Spain. It is there, in theory, and just down the walking path from the complex and across the street from La Alborea Souvenirs Granada.

A search shows My Top Tour being located at Pl. de Bib-Rambla, Centro, 18001 Granada, Spain so it may have moved. The website is https://www.mytoptour.es/en/
The Granada website is: https://mytoptourgranada.es/
And a support email address: [email protected]

From the home Granada website page, if you scroll down there is a recover tickets link. If you click on it a box comes up where you enter your email address. My guess is your tickets will appear after entering your email address and clicking the Recuperar Entrada (Recover ticket) button.

As already stated, going through the official website is generally the best and least expensive option.

Entry to the Alhambra is a funny thing. It's really essential to secure entry well in advance to avoid paying outrageous prices for a ticket. I didn't do that, and ended up paying 100 euros for entry through a broker, Get Your Guide. I could have gotten tickets from the official site for 35 euros had I booked earlier. You snooze, you lose. Other brokers can be even pricier.

With that said, at 100 euros it was still a huge bargain. I would bet your company is viable if you found them via TripAdvisor. And if you charged the tickets with a credit card, you're covered for scams in any event. Show up at the specified location and I expect you'll receive the information you need to enter the site. That's how it worked for me. It might even have been this place you've mentioned; frankly don't remember.

I'd sleep easy if I were you.

Actually, the official site is 19 euros

Interesting. I just checked what I thought to be the official site and was given a price of 33 euros. Then I realized it only appeared to be official.

As I said, tricky stuff. Official website is https://tickets.alhambra-patronato.es/en/

And you're correct; 19.09 euros. Mea culpa.

In addition to all the third-party websites slapping excess charges on top the basic Alhambra ticket price, there's the complication that one can purchase Alhambra tickets that do not include the Nasrid Palaces, which are overwhelmingly the most beautiful part of the complex. I've seen tours that list what you see within the Alhambra complex and the Nasrid Palaces were sometimes missing; of course, they do not explicitly say that their tour doesn't go to the Nasrid Palaces. Not only do customers purchasing tours from those companies pay a lot of extra money, they sometimes don't even get to see the best part of the Alhambra.

If the date you want to visit the Alhambra has no Alhambra General tickets for sale, check to see whether Dobla de Oro tickets are still being offered. They're just a bit more expensive, and they cover additional sites. The remaining possibility is the Granada Card, which is somewhat more expensive than the Dobla de Oro tickets but covers still more (generally minor) attractions in Granada. The Granada Card is sold on a different website, not the regular Alhambra website, which is https://www.alhambra-patronato.es/en.
