In 2019, we had an exceptional experience at Bodegas Baigorri. We plan to return there in September, but will have another day or so to visit other nearby wineries. Would welcome recommendations. Thank you!
Are you returning to Laguardia and/or Baigorri?
Of course there are many options, some are better then other depending on where you are staying.
In Logroño, for example, the Bodegas Franco Espanolas is a good visit. If you are more towards Haro you might try Bodegas Lecea.
Also, keep in mind that the last part of September is the wine harvest and many wineries will be very busy those days.
Yes, in mid-September, we are returning to Baigorri and, for a few days, Laguardia. Thanks for your suggestions.
Hi mml,
I agree that Baigorri has a great visitor experience and delicious wine! All within a stone's throw of Baigorri are the following outstanding wineries: Ostatu, Olarra, and Remirez de Ganuza. In my opinion, the wineries in this part of Rioja all follow a more modern and contemporary wine making style as opposed to a more traditional style. If you're looking to contrast Baigorri with something a little more old school, a quick 10 minute drive west will take you to Bodega Hermanos Peciña, one of the best traditional style Riojas in the area.
Thank you, @traveltravails!
Oops, I misspoke! I meant Obalo, not Olarra. Olarra is in Logroño. Obalo is just down the road from Baigorri (just 2 minutes).
