We will be in pamplona in july are there any known wine tours using pamplonma as a base?
Hi John,
I'm guessing that if you are in Pamplona in July, you are there for San Fermines.
Also I'm guessing that if you use Pamplona as a base, you have a car. And if you have a car, La Rioja is only 1 hour away and has great wineries to visit.
But if you want to stay in Navarra, I would recommend Tierra Estella. It is about 40 kms west of Pamplona. The local tourist board has a web page, but it is only in Spanish. Here is their list of wineries in the area Wineries in the Estella Zone.
The web page of Navarra is also very helpful for planning a visit and it has an English version. If you like lamb, and cheese, I highly recommend this excursion. Cheese and migas. You get a tour of the cheese making operation, and then they take you up to the mountain to a "choza" where they serve "migas" bread crumbs fried in lamb fat, then lamb stew and sheep's milk curd "cuajada". All in a nature reserve.
Hope that help some, have a good trip,
Dave
