White Hill Town Tours

Have any out there ever taken one in lieu of renting an automobile?

I have not, but I considered it. The issue I had was that most if not 100% of those tours include Ronda. In early 2019 I researched bus tours on the Internet, and then when I was in the area in April, I kept my eyes open for a tour of just the smaller places. I found nothing that didn't include Ronda.

Ronda is easy enough to visit via public transportation, is larger, and has some sights one might want to go inside. It is worth more than a short stop. I believe the others (Arcos, Grazalema, Zahara--but I've only been to Arcos) are places visited primarily for their cute-small-town architecture, just to wander around. Arcos isn't exactly tiny, and I enjoyed spending a few hours there, but if a bus tour took me there and gave me only an hour, I wouldn't feel it was grossly inadequate. The way I managed Arcos was that I spent a couple of nights in Ronda and treated Arcos as a day-trip from Ronda.

Incidentally, Vejer de la Frontera can be a day-trip from Cadiz by bus. Comes buses make the run in between 60 and 90 minutes.

thanks acraven I was expecting you would know; and based on my own research I also was considering Ronda as a 3 night stay and daytrips to Arcos and others from there. Looks like that is where I'll be in December maybe flying into Malaga and going to Ronda from there. I did Cadiz, Seville, Cordoba, Granada last year. Any other Andalusian gems not covered please let me know.

I liked all of these spots, but of course it means more time:

Carmona as a day-trip from Seville
Priego de Cordoba as a day-trip from Granada
Ubeda/Baeza/Jaen in the north

I never met a white hill town I didn't like, only went by car. Malaga is very pretty with very good "second-tier museums" and Roman ruins.
