which train station

I am wondering if you can help me with which train station in the following areas would be best used.

Barcelona,
Madrid,
Segovia
Toledo
Cordoba,
Seville,
granada
and Malaga. I am aware that it is possible that there is only one station in some areas, but when using the renfe site I just want to make sure.

thank you

There is only one station in Toledo. The main station in Malaga is Maria Zambrano.

In bigger cities that'll depend on where are you arriving from/departing to and which sort of train (regular, regional, fast) are you using as services are normally split.

Here is the Tripadvisor tutorial on using the Renfe website, which I found invaluable: https://www.tripadvisor.com/Travel-g187514-c80518/Madrid:Spain:Buying.Renfe.Tickets.Online.html

In it, he explains that when you enter the name of the city with multiple stations, it will give "todas" as an option, meaning all stations (eg, Madrid todas). This is the best way to search for trains; the system will then find the correct station for your route (particularly useful for Madrid, since AVE trains can leave from Chamartin for some destinations).

I found it easier to search for routes on the Bahn (German Rail) website http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en, following Rick's tutorial: http://www.ricksteves.com/travel-tips/transportation/trains/online-schedules. On Bahn, start typing the name of the city, and choose the first station from the list. If it's not right, you'll see a short regional train or metro connection to the "real" station, where the long distance train starts.
