Which Malaga Hotel to Choose During Semana Santa?

Our family will be visiting Malaga for the first time from April 5-9 (Holy Thursday-Easter Sunday) and we are trying to decide between staying at the Hotel Vincci Selecion Posado de Patio, located in the historic center, or the Icon Malabar, in the Soho neighborhood. (We have refundable reservations at both locations so I need to decide which one to cancel).

We are eager to see some of the Semana Santa processions and events, so I am leaning toward the Hotel Vincci based on the location, as well as the general hotel description. However we are travelling with two young elementary kids and I am a little concerned that the crowds may get overwhelming and with noise volume at night, so am wondering if the Icon might be a better option since it looks to be a little further outside the center.

Would greatly appreciate any insights!

I am no Malaga expert, but I was just there for Carnival, which is arguably more rowdy than Semana Santa. We stayed in an AirBnB near the Plaza de la Merced and the noise pretty much kept us up all night. Lovely stepping over the vomit puddles in the morning. We were with our 12 year old. To be honest, Malaga struck me as a huge party town due to the cheap flights within Europe (and other reasons). Both of your hotels are essentially in the center - they are only minutes by foot from each other. I would just advise staying on a higher floor.

I’m flying into Malaga for Easter but we are staying outside the city on the good old Costa del Sol. If you want to avoid the huge crowds there’s a very good local train service along the coast which makes it easy to get into Malaga to see what’s going on during the event, and then retreat somewhere quieter. I know the Costa del Sol is not everybody’s cup of tea but it’s relatively cheap with a huge range of accommodation options and has good transport connections. That’s my excuse anyway!
