We'll be extending in Barcelona for 4 nights in November after a Portugal/Spain tour. I have narrowed down to four hotels and would like feedback from anyone who has stayed at these. All are fairly close to Placa de Catalunya: Hotel Denit, Hotel Lleo, Hotel Continental Barcelona, and Hotel Granvia. Thanks so much!
Hi Judy
We stayed at Hotel Continental for four nights just a few weeks ago. The pink decor is dated, but the bed was the most comfy bed I've had anywhere. We had Ramblas balcony room, which I recommend, but bring ear plugs. The all day buffet was minimal but appreciated. It included Coke and other pop. Word of warning - the elevator was out of service off and on and our friend with mobility issues was unable to access her room at some points of our stay. All in all, if you are okay with a lively location, dated decor, and a dodgy elevator, it should suffice.
I would choose between Granvia and Denit.
Granvia looks nicer and has a great terrace, but I think Denit has a slightly better and probably quieter location. Overall, price being similar, I would choose Granvia if I could be sure of a quiet room.
I stayed Lleo many years ago, too many years now to pass a comment.
I stayed at the Hotel Granvia two times in recent years and found it to be highly satisfactory. Most of the rooms been full renovated in the past five years. They serve an excellent breakfast buffet. The hotel is very centrally located, and is between a five and ten minute walk from Placa Catalunya. There is great shopping nearby and many bars and restaurants conveniently close.
Andrea, David, and Jack,
Thanks so much for your feedback on my Barcelona hotel question. We'll plan to book the Hotel Granvia, which looks like a highly rated place in a great location.
