I’m new to posting online so please have patience.
I’m going to Spain in the fall and would like to spend a week in Valencia. I am a solo female traveler and would appreciate any suggestions re where to stay that is somewhat central to town.
Thanks!

We stayed here 4 nights in November. I posted a review in tripadvisor.
I just returned from Valencia two weeks ago. Based on lots of recs here on this forum I too stayed at the Hotel Venecia. Excellent location right on the main plaza. Only a short walk to the metro, bus and train stations. You are in an excellent position for walking to many of Valencia's attractions and restaurants. Valencia was a delightful city to visit.
Another vote for Venecia. Excellent location, beautiful building and it was affordable last time we stayed there (maybe 4 years ago).
I heard the best area to stay is Ciutat Vella, which is the center. Probably suggest checking out Airbnb for short-term or uniplaces.com for medium term rentals.
Thank you all for your suggestions. I was able to book a room at Hotel Venecia. Even tho I had to shorten my stay, I’m looking forward to exploring Valencia.
👍 l liked Valencia more than Barcelona or Madrid. The other two are so popular and crowded. And there were no real surprises because the "must do's" get discussed to death. Valencia is way more laid back and less crowded.
Right beside your hotel is the beautiful city hall. Free admission and worth seeing their crystal room and council chambers.
There's a hole in the wall tapas place called Casa Vani. Only about six small tables and run by a young couple. It is on a small street around the corner from San Nicolai di Bari (known as the Sistine Chapel of Valencia). Google Map them, if interested.
If you want exercise, rent a bike and ride down the Turia gardens to visit the City of Arts and Science. I don't think there's anything like this in the rest of Spain or Europe. Amazing modern designed structure in wide open spaces.
We had four nights and there was so much to do that we didn't even make it to the beach.
I completely agree, Valencia is one of the best places to visit in Spain.
The old fisherman neighborhood in the city "Cabanyal" has so much to offer, well connected to the city center and by the sea of Valencia.
One of the best places to stay:
