Where to stay in Seville

Hi everyone,

My daughter (20) and I will be in Seville in March. While there, we want to be near good restaurants and bars and within walking distance (1 - 2 km) or public transport to tourist sites. She's bilingual so we don't feel the need to stay somewhere that necessarily caters to tourists. Should we stay in Barrio Santa Cruz or in the city center?

Additionally, we'd love to get some hotel recommendations in the neighborhood you recommend. We are already considering Hotel Amadeus. We've got a fairly generous budget for Sevilla lodging so would consider 3 - 5 star accommodations.

Thank you!

I stayed at Hotel Amadeus and loved it-but I had a renovated-more expensive room with a patio.

I haven't been there for a few years so others can give you more up to date restaurant information. I also knew Spanish and most people let me talk Spanish even with my Latin American pronunciation.

I would also advise a walking tour with Seville Walks-the one Rick recommends in his guidebooks. Well worth the money to hear the history of the city.

Another vote for Hotel Amadeus. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there; terrific staff; immaculately clean and easy walking to everything. Loved their rooftop for breakfast in the morning, but that could be hit or miss in March.

I was just there and stayed in an AirBnB near Las Setas. I prefer to find accommodation that feels more connected to local life and seemed like a pretty ideal location—local, lively, with loads of cafes and restaurants, but still a 10-minute walk to the cathedral. I don't think I'd stay in Santa Cruz—it's nice there, but just too touristy for me.

Unfortunately, I don't have a specific hotel to recommend.

We stayed here 4 nights in November and it is 5 minutes to walk to the cathedral. We loved the hotel, staff, and breakfast was delicious. They had every category of food for breakfast. The rooftop terrace is beautiful with a 360 degree view.

We are currently staying in a 2 bedroom apartment at Apartamos Living Sevilla Maestranza

Renovated with good quality fixtures, excellent walkable location, many restaurants and a grocery nearby. A strong community feel. Two bedrooms and two bathrooms plus washing machine gives everyone some nice space and a chance to recharge. It has a lift and air conditioning. The price is an exceptional value.
