We are staying four nights in Sevilla and, due to availability, I've made reservations at two hotels. My quandry is this: I am leaning toward El Rey Moro Hotel in Santa Cruz because it looks charming, great reviews, and is close to most everything. The PROBLEM is we will have to change rooms--and back--for one night of our stay due to availability. The other reservation is at a brand new hotel called Hotel Lobby Room in the Arenal, very close to the bridge to Triana but perhaps a bit removed from many of the sights, experiences we will want to do. This hotel is modern (in a renovated old building) and we would have the same room throughout. Barrio Santa Cruz vs Arenal. El Rey Moro (moving rooms) vs the new hotel. Thoughts? opinions, fellow travelers?!
Have you tried the HOTEL ALCANTARA? I stood there with a RS tour and it was charming and centrally located.
"Tourist" Seville really isn't that large, and I wouldn't bother wasting hours in the middle of a day to move. In four days there we never once took a cab, and that included walking with luggage from the train station to our AirBnB and from our AirBnB to the bus station at the end of our stay (we moved on to Granada).
El Rey Moro is gorgeous - I stayed there a few years ago and highly recommend it. But the moving does sound very annoying. I don't know the other hotel, that location is good but I prefer Barrio Santa Cruz - right near a lot of the sights, lots of street life and stuff going on.
So is there an option C - find a different hotel in Barrio Santa Cruz? That would be my ideal.
hotel lobby room is a half mile from the cathedral (about a 7 minutes walk). A little shorter to the Torre de Oro. It’s 6/10 of a mile to the Alcazar. The Plaza de Espana is about 1.4 miles from it. Yes, it’s a little longer walk to the main sights, but closer to Triana. To me walking a little further is worth not having to switch rooms. The last time we were in Sevilla we stayed at Hotel Amadeus.
We stayed at Apartamentos Suites Santa Cruz in Barrio Santa Cruz and were very happy. They are small apartments that are part of a hotel. The hotel's reception is in a different building. The location is perfect! I agree that looking for an Option C might be better.
Would recommend the NH Sevilla Viapol. Good hotel with a metro stop right across the street.
