We only have 2 nights in Madrid and want to see as much as possible on our full day, but have an early AM train to San Sebastian (Chamartin station). Any ideas on best located hotel area to maximize our Madrid sight seeing and yet be convenient to Chamartin that last morning?
Maybe just stay at the center of things around Puerta del Sol?
Metro 1 will get you up to Chamartin in about twenty minutes.
It'd be more time efficient than staying up north and going back and forth a bunch of times.
I agree with Ed...You will enjoy the center much more and be able to see and do more as well. Take an Aerocity van from the airport to your hotel, and the subway to Charmartin. Hostal Aculpco is a good one and central. One block from the metro stop.
I agree it's better to stay in the center. I'll also add that if, for any reason, you don't want to take the Metro to Chamartin station, taxis in Madrid are plentiful and inexpensive.
