Where to stay in Barcelona? Marina/Gothic or Rambla/Placa de Catalunya?

If it was me, I’d choose the one near Plaza Catalunya. If for no other reason, it’s closer to some of the popular sites. There’s also a large department and grocery store (El Corte Inglés) at the plaza.

While the Rambla can be noisy and hectic, near the bottom end might not be so
bad from that perspective.

But also check to see what your access is to a Metro stop. For that, Catalunya is
a clear winner most likely.

Another vote for Plaça de Catalunya.

Placa de Catalunya for sure. Last year, we stayed on Passieg de Gracia, one block from Placa de Catalunya, and it was great. I loved that area.

Neither one nor the other. Top of La Rambla = hectic, bottom of La Rambla = can be seedy at night

Thank you all for your suggestions. We have booked the top of La Rambla near Plaza Catalunya, but can cancel if needed.

I am curious what recommendations people may have for other areas?
