Where to purchase tickets for top attractions

How about online direct to the attraction?

I tried to get a ticket for Alhambra yesterday, and tickets were not available. I had to go to a tour guide operation to purchase tickets since that's the real reason we were going down to Granada.

I have good news and bad news. The good...tickets can usually purchased in advance, some times they must be purchased WAY in advance. And most of the time, you are best served if you can buy directly from the organization. There seems to be no central organization for tickets. This is a big nation and these are all separate organizations, so it stands to reason.

Bad news? My wife and I have been traveling internationally for more than 35 years. Spain was the most difficult nation we have encountered. Our two trips means we have now spent two months in Spain. Our credit card companies did not want to accept charges from websites located in Spain. I ended up buying my Spanish rail tickets from a British organization. Later when I tried to buy tickets for the Alhambra, my credit card tried to deny me by saying that, "You know you bought train tickets for Spain". I have no idea what that was suppose to mean. My attempt to buy tickets, while in Sevilla, with the Royal Alcazar in Sevilla was a charge to my card, and no tickets.

If you can print the tickets at home in advance, I would feel good about it. If you get stiffed while at home, you can easily spend time with your card company denying the payment. All tickets we printed at home in advance were honored without question. Do keep the bar code thing unwrinkled or water damaged.
