Where does TAP Airline go through customs on route via Lisbon from US to BCN?

I'm planning a trip from the Washington DC area to Menorca. I would be booking a flight on TAP to BCN via Lisbon arriving at 4:20PM; then a seperate booking to Menorca on Veuling at 6:05PM.

I'm trying to determine if an hour and 45 minutes is enough time collect bags and catch the Veuling flight. It seems that it would be enough time if we clear customs in Lisbon. I can't find the information on TAP website.

Thank you

You clear immigration (which is for people) when you enter the Schengen at Lisbon.

As your bags are checked through to Barcelona that’s where collect your bags and clear customs (which is for goods) and unless you have goods to declare is a non-event.

When you say customs, what you really mean is passport control. Customs is for goods.

You’ll go through passport control in Lisbon as that is where you enter the Schengen Zone. No idea how long that can take. As you are collecting your bag and checking into another flight on another booking, you’ll go through customs in Lisbon as well. Customs, however, means that you just walk a green unmanned door. Baggage claim could take a while. You’ll then have to check in again, go through security. I don’t think you have enough time.

Our time to clear immigration in Lisbon two years ago was four hours. Granted, that is probably the extreme case, but delays are common. Google it for more current info. Contrast that with our visit to Rome a few weeks ago where immigration for US citizens is now through the e-passport line. Ten minutes.
