We will be there in late March. When can I book tickets for travel from Seville to Granada and then Granada to Madrid? What is the best website to use? I have been on the Renfe site and it is not loading any timetables or options for the late March. I wasn't sure if missed something. TIA!
Download the Renfe app. it will make life much easier as you are traveling.
I like to plan ahead as well. However, when it comes to these trains, it isn't always the best idea. I tried to be an "early bird" with our reservations from Seville to Granada and I don't think I saw all the available options at that time and paid more than I needed to. We had a last minute flight change and purchased our Granada to Madrid train tickets just two hours before it left the station. It worked.
I was quite pleased with the rail system. It was efficient and on time. Cars were clean and staff polite. I am guessing you could wait until just a few weeks before you travel to buy these tickets. It would take care of your need to have plans set and still give you the total options that are available.
Renfe will put usually tickets up for sale 90 days in advance, so you are too early for late March.
We will be in Spain in mid February/March and used the Trainline to book some of our first train trips as we wanted to see what options there were with Iryo and Ouigo as well as Renfe for our Madrid-Zaragoza and Zaragoza-Girona trains. We have booked with Iryo to Zaragoza and will use Renfe for Z to Girona.
We are looking at taking the Alsa bus from Seville to Granada. It takes 3 hours but looks better for us than the train. Alsa tickets seem to be available months in advance.
The Trainline app is what I use now, for throughout Europe. It’s easier to use than the train company Websites, and lets me buy my tickets and get a scannable ticket on my phone for the conductor to see.
Looking at a random March itinerary for Spain, it doesn’t have anything this early, either. But do look at Trainline.
My current website for train tickets is also trainline. I used loco2 until it was bought out by RailEurope. Agree that it is too early to buy tickets for late March.
I am also a trainline convert. I found renfe very frustrating to use.
Of the three train trips that I booked on trainline, the ticket prices on two were the same as on renfe and the third only charged €1.40 commission. And after I booked the latter trip, the price of the same ticket went up on both renfe and trainline. So if I had kept fumbling on renfe, I would have ended up paying more.
A little surprised at these comments. I found the Renfe App quite easy and convenient to use.
The Seat 61 website is outstanding for advice on rail travel throughout Europe.
