I just got word from my Barcelona food tour, that they will not be operating on Monday, June 10, because it's Whitsun Day and a holiday for many places. If you live in Barcelona, or are familiar with it on a holiday, please, I need some ideas of what to do that day instead of my food tour. Most museums are closed and I'm afraid other stuff will be closed for the holiday too. Thanks for any ideas. I have to be back at my hotel by 4pm because my RS Spain Tour begins at 5pm. (I'm planning on the Catalan Art Museum and Joan Miro on Sunday, June 9). I'd like to stay in town and not travel elsewhere. Thanks!
I believe you'll find that at least some of the modernista sites will be open for business that day. Check La Sagrada Familia, Parc Guell, Casa Mila, Casa Batllo, Recinte Modernista de Sant Pau, Palau Guell and the Palau de la Musica Catalana.
Who said museums are closed? That's not true.
1.) Any Monday during the year has most attractions open, the only ones closing are the ones run by the City Hall.
2.) When it's a festive Monday, even those are opened -if not all, most of them anyway.
Maybe visit one of our many parks - Parque del Laberint d'Horta is a good option. It's 18th-century neoclassical garden on a former palatial estate. It's very beautiful with numerous sculptures of Greco-Roman mythology along with a number of fountains, springs, and pools. In the center of the gardens is an English style hedge maze.
Make a picnic out of it! Bring some pan con tomate, fuet, jamon, a few good cheeses, and with a good bottle of Cava you'll have a blast :)
Thanks for the great info/ideas! Gracias!
