I’m going to be in Madrid on Sunday May 1, 2022 which is a national holiday and Monday May 2, 2022 which is a bank holiday in Madrid. I was looking forward to going to museums, doing some serious shopping and having wonderful dinners out. Will everything be closed? Does anyone have recommendations on what I can do these two days? Thank you!

This is my tourism jackpot—a gold mine of people watching!
I can almost guarantee that 80% of Madridiños will be out in the streets and parks, strolling, picnicking, having languid lunches on restaurant terraces. Take a blanket and bocadillo to Retiro, or take a book to a terraza for a cafe or a vermut, and enjoy the parades!

Also... there will be plenty of museums, shops, and restaurants to explore over those days. You might have to be a bit strategic to find things that what's open on which days, but there will be plenty of options.
