What about Valencia??

My family is planning a few days in Spain. Were thinking Barcelona, but my husband wants the beach. I see Barcelona as more of a port city, not beaches. Anyone have any thoughts on going to Valencia?? Thanks!

Think again as Barc has wonderful public beaches and Valencia is a quite a trip just to get to a beach. Use google earth to examine the beaches in Barc and then also use google to learn more about those beaches.

Though Valencia has a beach, it is not especially appealing, and not a highlight of the city. I think Valencia is worth a visit particularly if you are interested in the architecture of Calatrava, who designed its very modernistic cultural center called the City of Arts and Sciences.

Valencia is one of the most beautiful cities in Spain, not so crowded, green and with plenty positive energy. You have many things to visit in Valencia and the fine golden sand beaches are awesome!!!

Barcelona has a good beach - sandy and conveniently located if pretty crowded. And nearby are numerous small coastal towns with beaches along the Costa Brava.

Valencia is an underrated city but lacks the big headliner sites. Very beautiful and a good place to kick back as it is not as crowded. I have not been to its beaches but they are not as conveniently located near the city center.
