Wardrobe for 2 weeks in mid-late May in Granada, Spain

I’ll be traveling to the city of Granada, Spain and spending about 12 days in the city, and 2 in Madrid on either end of the trip. I’m wondering what would be the most comfortable to wear during this time. I’m thinking polo shirts, athletic shorts, sneakers, socks, and baseball caps. Is this a good idea, especially for this season?

I am a part of a group that will be doing plenty of walking on the trip so, for men, what's the best underwear to wear. I have a history of chafing on the thighs and i want to avoid that on this trip at all costs. What are y’all’s thoughts and recommendations? This is my first time going to Europe, and obviously my first time in Spain. What other clothing or clothing related items should i pack?

I'm female, so I can only be of limited help here.

Catholic churches often have clothing requirements. I'm not sure shorts will be acceptable if they don't cover the knee. You may be expected to remove your hat before going inside, but that's obviously not a problem.

You can take a look at actual, historical, day-by-day weather data for Granada and Madrid on the very useful website timeanddate.com. I like to check the most recent five years' statistics for the month I'll be visiting. Unfortunately, data is sort of spotty for Granada for the two most recent Mays. Maybe there's more information there for 2019-2021. Use the pull-down box at the right, just above the graph, to change the month and year displayed.

Granada weather -- May 2022

Granada isn't at sea level, and it cools off some at night. You might find you want one warm layer, like a light fleece jacket. Granada doesn't get much rain, but I always take a rain jacket with me when I go to Europe.

Use the Search box near the upper right to see the data for Madrid.

1 pair of shoes. You need “excellent for walking” shoes. I have worn Mephisto shoes and Giesswein runners. One is sturdier and one is lighter.
1 cap.
I wear cargo shorts as they are always in style. I wear polo shirts.
I wear Saxx underwear.

For men, my SO highly recommends the Airism line from Uniqlo. The best fabric ever!

The best underwear I currently own are Jocky brand boxer briefs that are about 95% cotton, 5% spandex. They cost me $36+tax for a package of 3 pairs but they fit me quite well. I had bought my previous underwear online because I didn't see what I wanted in my local stores. I look for boxer briefs that are at least 90% cotton, with legs that are at least 3 to 4 inches long. Polyester is a common material for clothes, its more durable and cheaper than cotton but it doesn't breathe well and sometimes gets permanently infected with bad smells. I try to wear as little polyester as possible. I was in Spain in March 2022. You might not need the coat and gloves and hat I used some of the time. I wore Sketchers "outdoor shoes", dress socks (not for the style but I just do better in a thin sock than the common white athletic socks), a lightweight, button down long-sleeved casual or semi-casual shirt with a collar, a v-neck undershirt but I don't use an undershirt when its supposed to be over about 80 degrees fahrenheit, a sun-hat, and nylon hiking pants - if this matters, Patagonia men's quandry pants, which only have one inconspicuously placed extra pocket on the side of one leg and do not have the ridiculous-looking ability to zip-off half of the legs to turn pants into shorts like on some hiking pants. I hope that helps and wasn't too much information. Some of this is personal style choice rather than exactly what you have to wear in Spain. Some of my clothing choice is what I think will block me from getting sunburned.
