Vueling Seville to Mallorca via Barcelona

Before I proceed--yes, I searched Vueling prior to this post and there was nothing current or addressed my inquiry.
I thought we were golden getting a nonstop from Seville to Mallorca at 9:30 am arriving at 11:00 ish. Then I get an email today, the nonstop now leaves at 10 pm, so I had to change the flight. We now have a layover in Barcelona which necessitates navigating 2 flights instead of 1. This doubles the fun of navigating discount airlines and their policies.

For those of you that have flown Vueling recently and in these destinations Seville and Barcelona, I have the following questions:

How strict is Vueling?
Will Vueling be consistent or have you experienced them moving the goal posts around? example-- carryon was fine one place and then had to check another place.
My husband and I plan on using our Osprey 40l and 36 liter backpacks. We will have personal bags that can go under our seat. Question: Any issues with backpacks? My bag is 2 cm short in one dimension and 1.5 cm larger in another dimension. But it should fit fine.
I already pre paid a checked item just in case we end up with souveniers from our Andalucia adventures. We usually carry a tote bag to hold dirty clothes and non breakables so we can carry "treasures" in our carry on- "just in case."

Are the luggage bins on Vueling the luck of the draw? (Like Southwest here in the states, you can be on one 737 that is modern and then another 737 with dinky bin space)

I find it's stressful to worry about these limits of size and weight. We can make the weight, I just don't want a hassle. Then them changing the flight I made a couple of months ago impacted our schedule-- we are losing almost a day in Mallorca when all is said and done.

Vueling was basically our only option out of Seville to Mallorca.

We are on Easy Jet out of Mallorca to Amsterdam so hopefully that flight will proceed as scheduled.

Was there not a Ryanair flight available? They have several flights a day between Seville and Palma, many of them direct.

When are you flying? This is confusing because both Vueling and Ryanair operate several direct flights a day so you should be able to go direct.

Budget airlines can be strict. They can also make you check a bag at the gate of the bins are full. But don’t over think it. I travel with them all the time as do millions of others and you just get on with it. It’s not a luxury travel experience so don’t expect to enjoy any of it but it’s cheap and the flights are short.

Hi JC--there were 2, one leaving at 11 pm and the other getting us in at 16:55. Going through Barcelona got us into Mallorca earlier. The original flight I booked was ideal--left at 9:35 and got us in at 11:55 or something like that.

Maybe because we are leaving midweek, flights are more limited than flying in for a long weekend or weekend type mini vacation, Who knows?Well now we get a bonus trip to Barcelona--albeit the airport!

We are going at the end of May right after a RS tour that ends in Seville. It's midweek so direct flights appear to be limited. I didn't want to have to hang out in Seville until 3 pm. I could've taken a 6:45 am out of Seville with 3 hour layover in Barcelona, but I didn't want to rush the last day of the tour, even though it's basically breakfast and bye.

Just curious, if you don't mind, could you say where you will stay on Mallorca? I have not been in so long and am planning a trip next year, hopefully with a connection from Palma to Jerez on Vueling. (If not, I have to fly Palma to Sevilla). After Mallorca I will be in Andalucia, outside Vejer, which has become my March home away from home.

I looked up some details about a trip I took last May when we flew on Vueling. the flight was Santiago to Lanzarote, so not the same as yours, but perhaps the guidelines for luggage are the same. I travel with a large suitcase that I check, and each of us has a carry on. I also carry on a small backpack and a handbag.

I was not charged anything extra on that flight, despite the fact that I had, essentially, three carry on pieces.
Nor did the agent comment on the weight of the check in suitcase.

I'm not sure if that offers any relief but I thought I'd mention it, after just noticing that I did indeed, fly on Vueling last year. I'm sure I've taken them at least a few other times prior to that, and I do not remember ever having an issue about weight or amount of pieces.

I would think long and hard about RyanAir, although I know their flights are great for so many travelers.
