Is taking a seat in Row 1 on Vueling a good idea?
It offers extra space and should have overhead storage.
However, is there does it any place for a smaller backpack that might ordinarily fit under seat in front of you?
Does Vueling actually measure carry on luggage? Their size limit is smaller than United.
Thanks for input.
Vueling uses several different types of aircraft, although they are all Airbus models. Go to a site like Seatmaps for cabin layouts for the aircraft type you are booked on. https://seatmaps.com/airlines/vy-vueling/
A couple of that site's entries include 360° cabin views, including the view from seat 1A. Expect any budget airline to strictly enforce their luggage restrictions. They can both measure (using metal sizers) and weigh. If you need to check a piece of luggage, do this at time of booking to avoid a high fee at the gate.
No experience with Vueling, but in Europe I don't mess around with the LCC's and my carry on bags. I always carry on with my Rick Steves Convertible Carry on (Such a great bag btw!), but in Europe they are much more " attentive" to carry on bags. I'll just check the bag as the downside is much more expensive to gate check. In the US, knock on wood, have never had an issue with my 20lb RS carry on. Just my $.02.
I had seat 3A last week on a domestic flight.
I checked one large suitcase. I brought onto the plane the following: : My handbag, my Kipling backpack, and a hard-shell wheeled case. The latter two were put into the overhead compartment. If there is no space above your seat,, or under the seat in front of you, my experience is that the attendants will help you find the nearest overhead space into which your bags can fit.
They have always helped me to lift, if I cannot do so and if a passenger seated nearby does not step into help. But being a senior female probably has unexpected benefits like these.
If you are in seat 1A, is that not a priority seat that would offer more lenience regarding carry ons?
Vueling has never measured my luggage and I have flown with them many times over the years.
I have never had a complaint about their flights or their services, but I do often book a priority ticket.
I often try to get the first row on smaller aircraft for more legroom.
Since there is no seat in front of you, everythng you bring on board must go in the overhead.
On some airlines, and depending on the type of aircraft, the bins over the first row may be used for emergency equipment or crew bags. If that happens, you then have to find space behind you. This can be an issue upon arrival and everyone gets up to deplane.
