We will be staying in Barcelona and would like a few day trips to visit some vineyards. Any suggests would be appreciated.
I need to add that we do not plan on having a car if we can avoid it.
I am going to Barcelona in the spring and was interested in the same. I found some information on TA and then googled VIneyards near barcelona. Found a Barcelona website, About 45 mins by train out of Barcelona is the Frexinet and Cordoniu wineries, both of which offer tours. So if you like cava- might be a nice day trip.
My husband and I took the train from Barcelona to Sant Sadurni d'Anoia last year for the Freixenet Winery tour. The train stop is across the street. Also there are many many wineries (very small and larger) around the same area. We walked around randomly and had some of the best experiences and wine on our trip. Everyone very friendly. There are also a few local restaurants that are excellent. Great day trip!
There are vineyards visible from the AVE train between Zaragoza and Barcelona. I believe this is the region of the Cava production. You should be able to find a way to visit them via train or bus.
Cava makes sense from Barcelona. Rioja is centered around Vitoria. The Valdepenas area makes my favorite red in Spain. Sherry comes primarily from Jerez.
Check a bus station or TA in Barcelona to see if there are some tours you can jump on. Bus stations commonly run day tours that are a good value.
We booked a small group tour by van through BCN.travel called "Wine & Cava" for May 10 -- 8:30 am to 4:30ish. It includes visits to three vineyards. The last being Freixenet. Can't wait.
