So I will preface my question with the following. I've been to Paris three times, I love the Eiffel Tower but have yet to go up in it because from the Eiffel Tower there is no view of the Eiffel Tower. Some day. . . Anyway, in November, I am going in order, to Sevilla, Arcos, Zahara, Grazelema, Granada, Cordoba, Toledo and Segovia. I would love suggestions for easily accessed spots to photograph the city. For those with walls or on hills, views outside the walls will get you extra credit. ;) We will have a car upon leaving Sevilla and will return the car upon arrival to either Granada or Cordoba. Other than when we have a car, we'd like spots easily accessed by public transportation or on foot. Thanks!
In Seville right in the centre is the monstrosity of Metropol Paraso (or the exciting architecture, opinions vary). If you go up to the top you can follow the walkways and have a fantastic 360 degree view of the rest of the city. You could also go up Torre Giralda, of course.
In Granada, I think you will get the views you want from the Alhambra or, to include the Alhambra, from the various look-outs in Albaicin and Sacromonte. I think the latter may be better as you, if this makes sense, see the Alhambra more at an angle across its length with the city below, rather than "straight on" across the valley.
The Rick Steves guidebook on Spain has some suggestions for viewpoints for photographers for the Alhambra, Toledo and Segovia. I cannot say on Arcos, Zahara, Grazelema or Cordoba as I have not been there. If you go to Ronda and have a car, you will be able to easily get a good shot of the famous bridge and the town from outside the town. We hiked down a hill to get that iconic shot. There also is Photographer’s Ephemera and Photopills which will give you an idea of what time of day is best to shoot a certain landscape.
Sevilla - near Puente San Telmo across the river from the Torre de Oro. Nice view at night of the torre and cathedral.
Toledo - Mirador del Valle.
Zahara de la Sierra - from the tower, or from the A2300 on the way into town near the boat club Mogote.
Arcos - for a view of the valley, from Balcon de la Pena Nueva (very narrow road to get there, but there is parking) or from the Castillo de Arcos. For the city, along the A389 coming into town, or from the area near Ermite de la Nievas by Calle Cabezo. (Will need to find a spot to park a walk to get a clear view)
Granada - Mirador San Nicolas provides a great view of the Alhambra
Córdoba- possibly from the top of the Torre de Calahorra, across the Roman bridge on the other side of the river. I can’t think of any real high spots in town.
Grazalema - someplace along the A372 near camping Tajo Rodillo or Sendero Las Dehesillas. Or, from the parking lot of hotel Villa de Grazalema.
Segovia - Mirador del Alcazar y los dos valles, provides a great view of the Alcazar. For the aqueduct, from Avenida del Padre Claret or from Casa de las Cadenas.
